Before your first session, make a list of any symptoms you may have had, any major stresses or recent life changes, any medical condition, all medications including vitamins or other supplements, and any question you want to ask.

The first session is usually the assessment session and focused on history, understanding your symptoms and any other areas that would benefit developing a personalized treatment plan. You would be asked various questions and may be required to take some tests. It’s necessary to answer these questions to the best of your knowledge, as this would enable proper diagnosis and/ or management

No, per se. Your therapist should be able to give you some insights during the first session.

At your appointment, you’ll be encouraged to talk about your feelings and emotions to a trained therapist, who’ll listen and support you without judging or criticizing. The therapist can help you gain a better understanding of your feelings and thought process, and find your own solutions to challenges, but they won’t usually advice or tell you what to do

A minimum number of sessions can only be determined after an assessment and an initial session. Based on the assessments, your therapist should be able to determine if you’ll benefit from a short course therapy or a long course session. The goal is to help you become better in the long run, even when you are no longer in therapy.

Typically sessions ranges from 45 minutes – 60 minutes. It could be longer especially if there is need for further assessment (e.g. personality assessment).

You may be offered a single session of therapy, a short course of sessions over a few weeks or months, or a longer course that lasts for several months or years. It can take a number of sessions before you start to see progress, but you should gradually start to feel better with  help and support  after the 4th – 8th sessions

When you book a verified mental health professional, this does not guarantee that you would be comfortable with them. You can change if you do not feel comfortable at anytime, however, we advice a 2 – 3 visit to ascertain that.

First, it is advised to speak to your treatment provider on your challenges and concerns. There may be need to make adjustments to current treatment schedules. You can work with the treatment provider on your best solution. We advise that you do not abruptly stop treatment. It could lead to the feeling that you have failed treatment and lead to feelings hopelessness. You can also change professionals, if you are not comfortable working with your current treatment provider.

You may decide to provide us with your full name or not. When you book a session, you can decide to pick a “nick name” which will be used to identify you. We will however, need an emergency contact person which would be confidential and used when your therapist feels that you or someone else might be in danger. However, should you need to provide a medical report; your full name would be needed.
